The process of ordering our new turf for our home was so much easier than I expected. I called for a few quotes from various suppliers and Mel from Coolabah Turf was quick to call and have a chat about all of our requirements. I received several quotes, and Coolabah Turf being the most competitive, and providing excellent up front service and advice were chosen.

Hard dirt to new soft, luscious turf
For many years, the children of St Kilian’s Primary School in Bendigo played sport on a hard dirt area. The introduction of turf to our play area has bought significant benefits to our school. It is tough and very hard wearing and is enjoyed by our children many times a day during lunch time, sports and activities. It is also a feature in our annual School Fair.
Our turf has revolutionised our school grounds by not only adding tangible benefits for our children but also adding colour and vibrance to the grounds. After a bad year...
After a really bad year when our house was hit by a storm and we had collapsed ceilings I was so excited when I won a competition on 3SR and the prize was 100m2 of Sir Walter Lawn from Coolabah Turf and sprinkler system, it also included installation. Sir Walter is so easy to look after and the grandkids love it because it’s so soft and green. Everyone makes comments about how nice our lawn is….. Thanx to everyone involved…

My wife and I decided to have a lawn area in our backyard and we decided on instant turf especially after seeing our neighbours lovely lawn. We did the rounds and settled on Coolabah Turf, firstly because of their price being the most competitive, but secondly and by far the most important reason, was their service, advice and follow-up.
Never having laid turf I had a lot of questions and everyone I spoke to at Coolabah was not only full of advice buy genuinely concerned and passionate about it. Nohing was a problem and they even sent out brochures and detailed instructions on how to prepare the site, lay the turf, how to look after it in the crucial early stages and how to maintain it in peak condition all year round.
For our area in Bendigo it was suggested that we go with Sir Walter lawn which was what we had in mind. Suzie Shearer was outstanding in her enthusiasm, knowledge, advice and service – but having said that we must give full credit to Suzie and Brad on the excellent team of people they have chosen.
A couple of days prior to delivery we received a call from Coolabah to ensure we were ready, to double check delivery times and the site where we needed the turf placed…. nothing was left to chance. The turf was delivered on time and was in amazing condition and Brendan, who delivered it, was incredibly pleasant and full of advice and insisted on checking everything was delivered correctly, then inspected our site and then went over the procedure of how to correctly lay the lawn.
Our lawn is lush, healthy, vigorous and so incredibly green… we love sitting beside it on our back verandah, enjoying the view and the coolness the lawn offers rather than the stark, glary, dusty, hot dirt that was there before it. Suzie reminded me on many occasions that their commitment does not stop at the sale. That is not their style. If you have any questions or problems with your lawn, you are encouraged to contact them to help resolve it. They regard your lawn as an investment and something to enjoy for years to come and want to be part of that process. If they can’t help you with an issue over the phone or internet, they will send one of their turf managers over to see you and your lawn when they are next in the area, which is usually often, or you can make an appointment.
Our neighbour came over to see our lawn after a couple of days and was impressed and smiled very knowingly and said “we got our lawn from Coolabah also”. Enough said! Seriously though, I would not have written this testimonial if I didn’t truly mean it.
So if you’re thinking of instant turf, do yourself a favour and at the very least give Coolabah a chance for your business… I would be amazed if you are not impressed by them. We were, and we think of them everytime we sit by our lawn.

Improved the aesthetics
We had “Sir Walter” laid in our front yard and it has been fantastic. It has been durable for the kids play, and has improved the aesthetics of the house as well as providing a cooling effect in summer. One of the better features has been the turfs ability to grow in shade, thus providing an even and consistent cover, while not invading the garden beds.
The follow up service from Coolabah Turf in Echuca has been first class, with questions quickly dealt with over the phone and follow up visits to suggest the type of up keep that is required.

We received our Sir Walter this morning at 8am as scheduled. The driver (Brad I think) was very helpful with some last minute suggestions. Thank you for the Sir Launcher and Seasol. Through all environments
We live on 18 acres of scrubby bushland in Central Victoria. Our land, which has been described by visitors as “chewed up and spat out gold mining land” experiences low rainfall, poor soil and a harsh climate – with unrelenting heat in summer and punishing frosts throughout winter. Against the odds we laid Sir Walter Buffalo turf in 2006 with high expectations. By the end of summer, we had a dry dam and needed to drill a bore to sustain our investment. The water is brackish, with a total dissolved solids reading around 5000ppm.
We couldn’t be happy with our luscious lawn. It is the talk of the neighbourhood (because no one believed you could grow a lawn here at all) and the envy of anyone who sees it. In fact it has created an oasis at our house that defies the odds!
Despite that our bore water has killed most of the plants it sprays onto, our Sir Walter continues to thrive. At the peak of its season it is a thick sumptuous living carpet which crowds out any weeds trying to compete. Our dogs love to sleep on it both summer and winter and the kids love to roll on it as well. In fact it looks so good we often have people asking us whether it is fake!
The best part is that in the season when we are on the lawn daily, we generally mow it once per week. My husband is no gardener and apart from fertilising it and watering it (automatically) – one cut per week (at the most) is all that it can expect to receive. Once the warm weather wanes and we are not outside, the lawn is totally neglected. It stops growing but still looks manicured.
We couldn’t be happier with our Sir Walter. It is a designer lawn for lazy people who are time poor but want a fabulous look. Perfect for us, and we would recommend it to anyone!
